Worked up a summary table on the date quantities and discussed it with Philpot & Clark — Raytheon at WS. This after a talk with Jeff Hester at Raytheon, Bedford. Spoke for 1-1/4 hours with Philpot, getting initial estimates of 1 reel/recovery flight plus 100′ of film/site.
AAG informed me that 1) CWU will not give on his deadline of 7 Sept. for initial estimates of quantities of data, and to give him a preliminary estimate irrespective of its validity; 2) that it is ok to go to the ONR Symposium on Electro-magnetic Warfare at Stanford on 12-14 Sept; also to return via Seattle.

The children were all excited by their first day at school, new teachers, friends, classes. Charles is in the French 12 class; this seems odd; I suggested that he take Latin I. The Committee (AFS) is to meet tomorrow night and go over such matters. Charles showed us a one-page paper he wrote for his English class — it was in very good English.
