BLANDISM: A manifesto / a womanifesto

Now that all sections of humanity have discovered the enabling power of political correctness we, the artists, have made a conscious decision to join in this admirable trend.

By a process of elimination of all and any other alternatives we, the undersigned, have concluded that political correctness is, above all, wisdom. We are therefore forever determined to eradicate all references within the creation of our work to Sex, Religion, Political commentary, risqué humour[1] and satire and any other currently considered; or yet to be considered, inappropriate subjects.

We will, with a steely determination, refuse to broach controversial subjects; we will desist from allegorical, metaphorical reference or innuendo.

We will, with determined stoicism, avoid all cynicism and acknowledge and accept everything told to us by politicians, statisticians, religious persons, other figures of authority and any person obviously wiser and more expensively educated than ourselves.

We give our commitment to refrain from giving an opinion on any subject beyond that of the drying speed of paint under differing climatic conditions.

We will happily allow our thought processes to perch and settle upon the safe, comfortable middle ground and never allow them to stray in any direction where extreme views or alternative opinions might be encountered.

We promise; should we stray from this commendable tactic, to immediately remove and thoroughly and completely destroy any sketch or notebook reference for/to any work we have made that brings offence to even a single member of the general public (hereafter referred to as ‘the public’)
