Avantiere exhibition

A real ancient bit of tape from the opening of a big exhibition of the art group Avantiere, founded by Hans Werner Berretz. The exhibition took place in the Aula Carolina in Aachen, Germany, a structure dating from Karlus Magnus’ day and reputed to be the site for his coronation. I do not know the name of the German critic reading during the first half, who is then followed by Hans Werner introducing participants — Volker Hamann, TA Rekk, Mary Bauermeister, Homare Ikeda, El Loko, and several others. I then shot several panoramas of the show and individual works and installations. My piece in the show was an outgrowth from the Apocalyptic Dream series and may be seen in the video as photographic triptychs wrapped around the main columns of the hall.

trip to the Empire State Capital

toll booth traffic, New York State Thruway, New York, August 1988

Bill loans me his Honda for a quick trip to Albany to meet up with George. He and Paula are there with Caitlin, their daughter.

It’s hot as summer in New York can be … so we bounce around town looking for coolness of any sort.
