ELE showed me a copy of a note of his to VAN reporting on a DRC briefing here yesterday morning. The conclusions have considerable significance for ECM.

Cont’d to read in Schlesinger on the optimum ECM mix. Apparently this is what DRC has done on a fairly sizable scale.

A little rain, clearing by noon.

LCH & Mrs. Sussman came to L2 at 1:30 PM so I could drive them to Mrs. Stratton’s reception. They were an hour early. I babysat for Judy S. & JCH, going after corners for the storm door windows in Brighton. I then took them to the MIT Sailing Pavilion, where we spent a most pleasant time watching the races and boating activity. The tender who was there during the War offered JCH a ride, but he was too shy!

Worked with CR on MacLeish’ poetry, which I find typical of contemporary art in that there seemed to be an absence of basic lasting inspiration. I suggested that he take Dante to the teacher & see what happens.
