never having been to the Fort Whipple Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Prescott, the occasion of the Veteran’s Day Parade on the hospital grounds seemed auspicious. a nice fall day, warm in the sun. plenty of folks around. the first warriors I ran across were the Marine Korean War vet contingent in their brilliant red satin jackets. it only got better from there. I was doing sound recording as well (to be uploaded at some later point) and so, managed a short interview with Frank Murphy, a Pearl Harbor survivor (a Purple Heart as well) who was also a member of Carlson’s Raiders in China; he also served in Korea and Viet Nam.
