nordic-baltic conference on art and technology

Invitation

Art Node Stockholm (Sweden), artist organization MUU (Finland), The Nordic Arts Centre (Finland) have the pleasure to invite you to the Nordic-Baltic conference on Art and Information Technology, which is to be held on the island of Suomenlinna in Helsinki, Sat. October 21 - Sun. October 22, 1995, in connection to the MUU Media Festival (MMF95) in Helsinki.
The conference will focus on the following:

Could new information technology be used to promote cooperation and marketing of contemporary art from the Nordic-Baltic region in an international context? Is the Nordic-Baltic region prepared to be involved in the development of computer based networks presenting adequate information from the different fields of contemporary art?

The purpose of the Nordic-Baltic conference on art and information technology is to investigate different aspects of this multi-faceted question: how do artists and art organizations relate to new communication technologies?

The conference will focus on concrete examples of on-going projects and plans. Based on these presentations, various future plans can be envisioned on the Nordic-Baltic level. What should a digital art archive look like? Could the World Wide Web and CD-ROMS be an efficient platform for marketing, presenting, and making art work?

The Nordic-Baltic conference on art and information technology will present lectures, demonstrations, discussions and exhibitions by different participants from the fields of art, science, and technology.

The conference is sponsored by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
