In this list I include not only facts from the workshop but also results and general remarks which I find important, because behind each of these results is hidden a large number of facts and pieces of knowledge that have influenced me.

1. The evidence how important it is to observe the protocols of your social system and take them into consideration when handling situations.

2. To understand how immense the influence of social protocols and regulations in the normal life of people is.

3. The fact that communication and energy exchange with the people surrounding you is one of the most important things.

4. To experience the odd feeling of having to speak when you would prefer to run away from a conversation and to find out that it is actually not so hard when you try.

5. That one should not avoid contact/communication just because of individual/character differences. To respect these differences.

6. The time of our last meeting when we sat near the lake and just had an easy conversation.

7. I found out what virtual presence and sustaining a human network at its most elaborate form is.

8. I certainly began to appreciate physical contact, endeavors and conversation. That happened when I realizes how much information is exchanged through some virtual channels and that I was as involved in it as everybody else.

9. I enjoyed the fact that some thoughts and time was given to the goal of explaining phenomena I knew existed, but took them as rather natural happenings.

10. I am happy that I have met some nice, intelligent people while taking part in the course. This is always something valuable.

4. I have put in more effort to diversify and consolidate my network.

5. The workshop was well organized.

6. Through the change of place: uni-See, hsfk, it was not boring.

7. I was able to make contacts which may not have been possible.

8. In the workshop, I discovered the need for communication.

9. The method of teaching was good but can be improved.

10. The knowledge was good conveyed.

1. The models on the white board helped to remember the whole "story".
2. The dialogues were a funny thing.
3. Your openness regarding our interests and thoughts.
4. The speed the discussion went on. On the latter days it was kind of boring, because of the loose conception.
5. no reward and punishment
6. The arrangement as an "artwork". I have never experienced this kind of interactive art.
7. That I thought about topics of the course while reading newspaper.
8. That we changed the viewpoints consistently (funny).
9. That we had a learning experience in an uncommon way.
10. It is a great pity that there were situations while talking about "global capitalism", where you said "I don't know", where everybody would have known the answer after thinking about it.

For me, the following ten points were very important about the workshop. It

Those were the ten things coming to my mind when thinking about important things from the workshop:

  • meetings with other classmates for two hours - I learned very interesting things this way
  • beginning at 9:00 o'clock instead of quarter past - this is a bit hard to explain but since this workshop I use 15 more minutes of my lifetime in real terms every workday
  • the story about the old man in the train going homewards
  • workshop being in English - I definitely improved my English skills, and, it's a bit silly to say but .. I felt special speaking English in a German environment.
  • the discussion about dependencies - the fact that no matter how hard we try we are always dependent of one or another
  • the idea of energy in everything - perfectly fitted to the world view with protons and electrons, but let me rethink about it
  • system order only sustainable with a constant energy flow - buildings by people will perish over the centuries when there's no new energy brought into them
  • the own view cannot be experienced exactly the same by anyone else
  • forest verus playground versus indoor simulation - I remember doing much less activities outside than my parents or grandparents used to do. It's a pity that the reality fades from the world more and more.
  • gluggaveur (window weather) - weather not worth experiencing with the full spectrum; fits to the playground story

To have a framework, a format, a guideline: this reminded me of the social structure that is everywhere, even in such an independent course.

The relation of power & energy: I was not aware of the close combination of these factors. A good friend of mine is obsessed with these mechanisms, she always cautioned me about it. So it was a bit uncomfortable for me to get to know about it again, from a different point of view. Since then, I started to challenge but also to adopt parts of this concept. But I hope that there are more mechanisms out there than

1. I found the dialogues most important!! This was really special about your course. It's always that some need time to get to know eacht other. A reason could be shyness or misjudging somebody's character. We didn't have the chance to choose someone, so we HAD to talk to whomever you assigned us to. This can from new friendships (or even more), but most importantly it creates openess and candidness.

2. I loved the way we could talk to you without being afraid of saying something wrong and being punished for that (for example by marks). Marks and the way the teacher thought about us was not important in this class. Everything was just about talking, argueing and thinking about stuff I never thougth consciously of before and all that in a very relaxing way (especially the day at the lake was great!!).

3. ENERGY!! In the beginning I thought that this energy thing was a bit crazy and just esoteric humbug. But after I thought about it a bit more I really think that you can say that everything and everywhere is energy. It just depends on how you use this energy for yourself.

4. Nature will take over social systems and human generated worlds very quickly if there is no energy put into preserving and sustaining these.

5. I found it really interesting but also frightening that natural energy, such as oil or water, will always be a reason for war. I mean, it's not that I didn't know that before. But what you said and what you experienced made it like a clear proof.

6. Another point is that I never thought of us being stuck so bad in social systems. As I grew up in two cultures I also grew up in (at least) two social, cultural and religious systems. Now I'm more sensible of that pressure and effect on me. I have no idea if I prefer this situation or not. ;)

7. We had rules like talking to others and being there on time. It was nice and reassuring to see that even you are not able to leave this social system and that all you told us is mostly just to try not to stick to much to systems and to try to break out of that.

8. I absolutely didn't expect anything like that when I subscribed. The first three days I was waiting you to get to the point and then I realized and (I think)understood what your intention was and still is.

9. No one left the course!!

10. Well, the last point would be that we talked in English. Maybe you remember me saying that I want to attend courses in English (which we don't have). I really enjoyed that!! :)

Ok, here are the first 10 things coming to mind when thinking about your course (not ordered by importance).

1. Conversations get really interesting (or awkward) with everyone given enough time and openness.

2. An awareness for the influence of the social systems on oneself.

3. Different models do not have to be exclusive (although we focused on the energy model, of course).

4. Insights into learning, teaching and the educational system

5. The problems of Virtualization and indirect communication

6. Hierarchy vs. Network

7. Setting/surroundings have a much bigger influence than i thought (HfK vs University vs Unisee)

8. Your story.

9. Its actually very easy to force-change your viewpoint/perspective. I was really surprised that one can change so fast e.g. between defensive & bored to interested & present, with just an act of will.

10: Technology

I'm quite curious about this one, Arthur -- I don't recall the immediate question/issue, but certainly I have some answers/ideas about that topic -- I was not aware of avoiding discussion of this critical development in our techno-social system. Could you clarify the situation or issue & I'll address it here...
